Project Overview
- Working Time: 2 hours
Looking for a home for all your air tools, but don’t want to store them in tool boxes?
Take a look at this pneumatic tool rack from farmer Stan Prokosch of Bird Island, Minnesota. He took 4x4-inch angle iron, then drilled holes to accommodate couplers mounted above and below the angle iron.
His idea allows you to store quite a few tools in a small area, and retrieving them is a snap.
What You'll Need
Equipment / Tools
- Hand wrenches
- ½-inch drill bit
- Metal band saw or angle grinder equipped with a cut off disc
Materials

The rack is created from 4x4-inch angle iron that is ¼-thick or less.
- Drill ½-inch diameter holes on one side of this angle iron space approximately every 4 inches apart. This could be varied according to the size of the tools being stored.
- To attach the couplers to the angle iron, insert couplers with male ends through the hole. Screw them into the female couplers, then tighten with a wrench.
- Use a length of holed strapping, bend it at one end, drill a ½-inch hole in the strapping, and attach it to the angle iron using a pair of couplers.
Optional: Add more couplers to the strapping to hold an array of pneumatic tool accessories.
